Cyber Security, as well as many industries, is trying to make use of COVID-19 for marketing purpose. As sad as it sounds, it’s true.
COVID-19 themed attacks by threat actors are real. However this has never been new to the security world. We have always seen APTs making utilizing global (and local) events and situations to their benefits. Threat Intelligence is the way to understand and protect against these attacks quickly.
However, this does not mean by any means to take pandemic as a source of marketing.
What should be required is public sharing of technical threat intelligence reports for related confirmed incidents.
To conclude, we should never overtake and abuse as a pandemic for solely marketing purposes.
